We can notice leaks around our home. Simple ones, such as a leaky faucet, or a leaking toilet. But what about the leaks we can’t see? You know, like leaks in pipes under our sinks that we might not notice until they become a larger problem. Or a leak in a wall? That’s when we can get the help of electronic leak detection. But how does it work?

Electronic Leak Detection

Electronic leak detection can be very helpful when used by the right person, a professional plumber. It allows us to actually pinpoint leaks. Much like when we’re using video camera inspections, we can spot holes in plumbing that we used to only be able to do when the whole yard was dug up, or we tore through your walls. But back to electronic leak detection. When leaks aren’t in plain sight, we use electronic leak detection to find them.

How? Well, all leaks produce sounds. Sometimes the sounds are so miniscule they are only detectable by these machines. It all depends on the amount of pressure, the size of the leak, and even the size of the pipe. This detector picks up the sound by use of a transducer and sends it back to the professional plumber who can then determine where the leak is. After, we can use either cameras, or line trace where it is located.

The advantages of this are finding leaks quicker. This reduces larger damage to your home. It doesn’t take long to damage your wall or your foundation. If Wyman Plumbing can locate the source, then the damage and repair is only limited to that area instead of the whole house, or even the foundation. Mold spreads quickly here in the Bradenton and Sarasota areas of Florida.
